Rare Disease Advisor serves healthcare providers, particularly those who may detect, diagnose, and/or treat rare diseases. We publish news, insights, columns, resources, and interactive features to help clinicians decrease the time to diagnosis and treatment of patients with rare diseases. Many of these patients experience misdiagnosis and have the treatment they need delayed for years, negatively affecting their health outcomes.

Our team provided extensive on-the-ground coverage of the 2023 Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) Clinical & Scientific Conference, one of the most prominent medical conferences for the rare disease community. In addition to comprehensive news coverage (see entries #4 and #5), the features we produced included:

- A profile of a woman with spinal muscular atrophy, a serious neuromuscular disorder, who had been newly named as the editor-in-chief of the MDA's quarterly magazine
- A story on the cognitive and behavioral problems faced by boys and young men with Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD)---symptoms which are often overlooked while physical symptoms are treated
- A feature on the buzz generated at the conference by the first potential gene therapy for DMD, which was approved later in the year.
