Entry Essay:
For background, P&I, a Crain Communications family brand, is the premier website and publication for institutional investors that manage capital for retirement plans around the world. We cover pension funds, retirement plans, endowments and foundations as well as the managers and consultants that invest those dollars to help investors meet their missions.
We are submitting a microsite we developed for our 2024 Influential Women in Institutional Investing awards special report, which went live on Sept. 9. Our aim was to acknowledge and celebrate women and their achievements in this sector. Although women are still a minority in the upper echelons of institutional investing, they are nevertheless having an outsize impact on the professional investment and retirement market as well as driving positive change.
On the microsite, you'll find all 60 of the winners (hover over each picture to reach individual profiles), associated themed stories, stories about how the nominations were evaluated and, at the bottom, our conference coverage, which included a live blog. The microsite received some 20,000 page views, a P&I record. On our main website, pionline.com, you'll find the IWII microsite under the Rankings and Award navigation tab at the top of the page.
While diverse in responsibilities, all honorees shared common characteristics: they empower teams, drive business results, improve outcomes for beneficiaries, create opportunity and drive transformation within the industry, as well as champion diversity and inclusion.
From an editorial perspective, the awards helped us tap into new sources to elevate our coverage and develop unique trend stories.
As part of the awards, we held a conference on Sept. 12 that explored issues raised in this special report.
Capping off the conference was a keynote discussion with Thasunda Brown Duckett, CEO of TIAA, on her approach to leadership at the $1.3 trillion manager, the challenges she faces as a woman of color in the institutional investment industry and what’s required to fix the retirement savings gap, especially for women and minorities.
