Associated Luxury Hotels International is a member-only Global Sales Organization dedicated to serving the meeting and event marketplace, with editorial content designed to position ALHI brands as authoritative thought leaders.
The COVID-19 pandemic was devastating for the meeting and event industry, an industry that is driven by face-to-face interactions. But 2023 proved to be a year of growth, optimism and a renewed focus on the attendee experience, all driving factors behind a $1.6 trillion industry. “With grit and tenacity, the $1.6 trillion global meetings industry is undergoing a bold resurgence,” our headline said. With that, we launched a 32-page printed State of the Industry Report delivered to our meeting planner and luxury hotel leadership audience that examined a myriad of critical issues impacting the business.
We started with a report on the science of face to face and how hormones and neurotransmitters help fuel feel-good vibes when face to face happens. We examined how the industry has roared back with a renewed zeal for creative and engaging experiences, and devoted a photo spread to show how face to face was influencing the world, one meeting at a time.
We tackled a hotel forecast that looked at both the U.S. and Europe, ongoing labor shortages, how the pandemic affected contact negotiations, increased food and beverage prices and how high travel demand, staff shortages and tech woes were impacting air travel.
The report looked at issues such as what the airline industry is doing to reduce carbon emissions and how associations are clearing obstacles to travel and meeting growth.
The publications also delivered elements of humanity, tell the story of a day in the life of a meeting planner and an interview with the CEO and founder of ECPAT-USA, a leading organization advocating for industry awareness about human trafficking.
From a design perspective, we used captivating imagery on the cover from the South by Southwest festival and tapped into illustrations to highlight several stories along with a cover page that led into the meat of the coverage. QR codes were incorporated directing readers to bonus content online. The design included bold colors, strategic use of white space, pull quotes, and graphics to help break up text and highlight key points.
