The mission of TechTarget Enterprise AI is twofold. The site informs its readership of the practical value of different facets of, and developments in, artificial intelligence (AI). Second, it delivers the latest news on recent breakthroughs in AI, providing audiences with a reliable source for the most up-to-date information on these areas.

When ChatGPT made its dazzling debut in November 2022, most people didn't know much about generative AI, the technology underlying the app's unprecedented human-like conversational abilities. That was not the case for freelance reporter George Lawton, who for the past five years has doggedly followed the development of the generative models driving this breakthrough technology. Lawton, for example, was early to report on Transformers, the neural network architecture introduced by Google in 2017 that revolutionized natural language processing and became the basis of Open AI's Generative Pre-trained Transformers (GPT) series. Long before the public realized ChatGPT was prone to hallucinate, Lawton had reported extensively on the ability of generative adversarial networks (GANs) and variational autoencoders (VAEs), two powerful tools for generating realistic content, to create deepfakes -- as well as on the enterprise need to establish guidelines for their responsible use.

Thus, when ChatGPT became a worldwide phenomenon and the term generative AI gained currency, Lawton was well-positioned to explain the nuts and bolts of this disruptive technology to our readers. Working with microsite lead editor Linda Tucci, his assigned mission was to break through the hype, providing historical context, technical explanations and a sense of the practical value of this new AI development. Drawing on his network of AI expert sources, Lawton wrote a 3,000-word primer on generative AI that was published in March 2023 and immediately rocketed to the top spot on Google search results. That was the start of our Web Microsite. In the ensuing months, Tucci, Lawton and a team of other TechTarget reporters, writers, editors and graphic artists expanded, deepened and continuously updated our coverage of a topic that is evolving blazingly fast.

The main page of the microsite not only takes pains to explain generative AI; it also provides contextual hyperlinks throughout to articles that provide readers with more information. "What is Generative AI? Everything you Need to Know" links to 63 articles on fundamental topics related to GenAI -- 32 definitions, 17 in-depth features and 14 expert tips, all of which were assigned in 2023 to support this microsite; 13 more articles are in the works, and updates to existing articles are done as needed.

The result is a comprehensive network of coverage on an emerging technology poised to profoundly change how humans work and live. Our work has resonated with readers. Since its publication in March, the generative AI microsite and its collective supporting articles have garnered over 2 million page views and attracted about 10,000 new TechTarget subscribers.
