“Transforming AFC Through Innovative Technology,” “Just Say No” and “‘Sus’ or Suspicious Minds: One and the Same” were three of our editor’s letters in 2023. Each letter carries the reader, through the use of personal anecdotes, on an introductory voyage to address the various industry topics addressed in each respective issue. “Transforming AFC Through Innovative Technology” brings the focus on the transformative potential of quantum computing in the realm of anti-financial crime. “Just Say No” brings readers back to the ‘80s and ‘90s when the campaign against drugs was lunched and how still today, it is important to bring awareness that illegal drugs, and the proceeds of such, continue being a risk for financial institutions. “‘Sus’ or Suspicious Minds: One and the Same” unites our younger audience with our more mature audience through the sometimes-silly use of slang and at the same time reminding financial crime professionals how suspicion can be the first thread in unraveling a larger mystery.
