As delta-8 THC began to hit retail shelves in late 2020 and early 2021, hemp growers saw an opportunity. Consumer demand was high. Hemp biomass supply was high (and in need of an end use). But this new cannabinoid was fraught with issues: namely, no one was really sure whether it was even legal to produce or sell. Thus began a months-long reporting endeavor. The editorial team at Hemp Grower looked at the issue from multiple angles and followed the regulatory news as policymakers abruptly acted. The result is a series of explainer articles and news features that clearly conveyed, in the spring of 2021, how hemp growers might want to address this emerging phenomenon.
