RSA is the premiere conference for cybersecurity professionals. But the 2021 annual show was different in terms of logistics and coverage due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The virtual event in RSA's 30-year history, more than 20,000 attendees logged in and chose from an array of 449 sessions that covered timely topics including supply chain attacks, incident response, ransomware and the cyber security skills shortage.
With so many overlapping sessions and more information than could be consumed by any one person in a four-day timespan, the SearchSecurity staff also tuned in to highlight topics and sessions that matter most to our cyber security readers.
In particular, the editorial team about the uncertainty surrounding products and terminology in the cybersecurity market and explained heavy-hitting yet confusing buzzwords from vendors, such as zero trust, XDR and SASE. We wrote about sessions that covered headline-making events, such as the Golden SAML attack technique used in the SolarWinds breach and the National Security Council's call to improve software supply chain security.
We took a multiphase approach to our RSA coverage, writing content during the show, as well as pre-conference articles and post-show wrap-ups.
The highly relevant theme of RSA 2021 was resiliency. Amid a global pandemic that will forever change the face of the workplace to the abundance of misinformation in the last U.S. presidential election to novel attack techniques to learning from others' data breach response mistakes, our coverage was designed to help companies be more resilient and secure than ever before.
