The biggest stories of 2020 were also cybersecurity stories, and CyberScoop responded to all of them with fresh reporting and thorough context for its community of policymakers, hackers, military officials, academics and tech-savvy citizens. CyberScoop's team of editors and reporters closely monitored the security of the U.S. elections, the technological issues that arose with coronavirus pandemic and the discovery of a widespread espionage campaign against federal agencies. But those weren't the only coverage areas in which the website excelled. CyberScoop also provided in-depth coverage of trends in cybercrime; threats to critical infrastructure; disruption to social media platforms; the continued rise of nation-state hacking; and how 2020's upheaval resonated within the tech industry. In a year when video was an essential mode of communication, CyberScoop successfully moved all of its in-person events — including the annual CyberTalks conference — to a user-friendly platform that showcased the insights of the government officials and corporate leaders who responded to 2020's multiple crises. If any development worldwide had an important "cyber" element in 2020, CyberScoop's team uncovered actionable information and combined it with useful analysis — all in the service of making the digital world a safer place.
