Description of the enterprising work that went into this entry and its significance or impact on readers:

Geotechnical engineers, who practice engineering related to earth materials, were concerned about three major issues in 2020: the impact of artificial intelligence, sustainability, and diversity and inclusion. The magazine editorial board and editors created three issues to deal with each of these topics. Each included several feature articles devoted to these areas. In addition to this in-depth scientific, business, and social editorial coverage, the magazine has a long tradition of connection to its audience, profiling accomplished individiuals in its "Geolegends" series of features,, "Look Who's a D.GE" column, and "New Faces in G-I" column. The "As I See It" column provides a forum for commentary about important topics in the profession. The "Geopoem" column (opposite the inside back cover of each issue) is a unique perspective on the industry expressed in poetry. Magazine readers also appreciate humor, as expressed in the "Geocartoon" that runs near the front of each issue. One of the defining characteristics of the magazine is the bold design that brings to life the work of geotechnical engineers in the field through many of the photographs in each issue.
