Pensions & Investments made a big push this year to improve the online presentation of its annual Best Places to Work in Money Management special report. This year, the special report profiled 94 companies that received the recognition, grouped by size categories, from the smallest to the industry behemoths. Three themed stories -- an overview of the findings, a look at how managers were working to preserve their corporate cultures during months of remote work, and a look at how they changed their benefit policies in response to the coronavirus -- provided readers with a unparalleled look at how managers were coping with the disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Since the page launched on Dec. 14, traffic to BPTW has been about 5% of all traffic since the special report was published. In redesigning the microsite, we chose bold colors to add visual interest and added buttons that would easily take the reader to a particular size category. The behind the scenes work entailed writing the code for the page itself and ensuring all HTML elements appearing on the page were coded correctly. It also required creating a “profile box” with the correct information and photo for the top-five companies in each category and a link to each company’s “profile page,” which included a photo-gallery and additional information. Three of the five categories had more than five winners, which required building additional landing pages where each company’s “profile box” could appear and link to their profile.
