Description of the enterprising work that went into this entry and its significance or impact on readers:
When the COVID-19 pandemic began, Pest Management Professional (PMP) started reporting on how pest control companies could be affected.
After pest control was deemed an essential service in several states, as well as by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, our readers continued to work during stay-at-home orders and shutdowns. We provided updated information regularly so our readers could stay informed and continue to be protectors of public health.
The first article, “New legislation passes related to COVID-19,” broke the news that pest control was officially deemed an essential service. It was our top-performing web article for 2020, with more than 18,000 pageviews during the week it was published. It garnered more than 56,000 pageviews for the year. Nearly 1,000 hours were spent on the article.
The second article, “Pest control as an essential service not unprecedented,” highlights our industry’s history and the perseverance of its members, including inductees of PMP’s annual Hall of Fame.
The third article, “State associations step up during pandemic,” offers a look at how several state pest control associations worked to help industry professionals during the pandemic.
The fourth article, “PMP encourages colleagues to donate PPE, service,” shares encouragement from a fellow industry professional to consider donating both personal protective equipment, as well as sanitizing products and services to healthcare facilities.
The fifth article, “PMPs extend service offerings for COVID-19,” focuses on how pest management companies launched new service offerings during the pandemic to serve their customers and help protect public health.
