Door and Window Market [DWM] magazine serves manufacturers, dealers and distributors of door and window products. [DWM] is the largest trade publication serving the door and window industry specifically. Our editorial content is targeted to readers’ unique needs, such as market developments and trends, energy efficiency, changing energy and building codes, how to compete in an increasingly competitive environment, among many others.

Please describe the enterprising work that went into this entry and its significance or impact on readers:

As the costs associated with natural disasters mound, the need for more resilient homes has become a preeminent topic among the building products industries. For the December 2018-February 2019 cover of [DWM] magazine we ran a feature on how doors and windows help to build more resilient homes, mitigating the effects. To illustrate and convey a sense of importance, we chose jarring imagery, while an unharmed door draws attention to the fact that those products can be a solution. In our efforts to make the door stand out, we muted the surrounding color palette to a dark, ominous grayscale to contrast the door and window bright spot in the aftermath of a devastating natural disaster.
