Dana Tanyeri tackled one the of the most controversial corporate profiles in the equipment and supplies sector with this story. Because the company continues to maintain the No.1 position as the largest dealer in the industry, its competitors (our readers) are always watching—or being acquired by—TriMark. The writer approached this story knowing not every reader was ready to hear glowing prose about the company; leading with the facts brought readers into the reality that this company’s financials are golden.
It’s a complex tale of folding in acquired companies, growing organically and maintaining strong leadership. The writer tells the tale exquisitely and doesn’t miss a beat in tackling any of the controversial areas. The narrative focuses on the company’s ambitions, its rise to the top position and how it plans to maintain that top spot. Dana uses a Q&A with the CEO to tackle the topic of private equity, which also comes with some mixed feelings for readers. Dana was also present at the photo shoot, which was itself no small undertaking. Gathering 17 key executives in one room at the same time—and maintaining their attention—involved more than small talk. She kept the room alive, dug deeper for additional insights from executives for the story, and helped the art director bring out the best of each person’s personality, which came through on the pages.
