Please describe the enterprising work that went into this entry and its significance or impact on readers:
The National Health Service (NHS) is one of the largest organizations in the world, and the current state of technology within the NHS is potentially dangerous. Innovations such as artificial intelligence, robots, the Internet of Things, virtual and augmented reality, and wearables could make a significant difference in the way healthcare is delivered and provided; however, these technological changes would need to occur as part of a broader overhaul at the NHS. In the series of articles featured in this ebook, reporters explored how these technologies are being implemented and their current and future impact on health services. Two of the topics covered are how automation will change surgery and patient care, and the race to create a real-life Star Trek medical scanner. Healthcare matters to everyone, and the reporting in this series gives our global audience insight into the evolution of this important topic. Of note: The articles were published on our sister site ZDNet, and then the articles were compiled into an ebook that was published on TechRepublic.
