CIO provides senior information technology (IT) leaders, business technology executives, and those who aspire to those roles with the peer insights and expert advice they need to advance business strategy, drive innovation in their companies and develop their careers and the careers of their employees. We write for senior IT executives (CIOs and VP of IT) and those aspiring to those roles. According to our 2017 audience profile survey, 47% of CIO's audience is either the top IT executive in their company or business unit.

CIO’s social media channels provide a diversity of ways for its readers engage with the website's content and to gain insight into best practices and strategies for leading information technology (IT) organizations. In addition to sharing links to the content it publishes, CIO produces live video events on its Twitter page (and live-tweets those events), uploads recorded video to its Twitter and Facebook pages, co-produces Twitter chats, and produces dynamic social media campaigns for content that involve custom-made graphics.
The live video events on Twitter include CIO Leadership Live, which features interviews with CIOs and leaders in the tech industry, and IDC Futurescape events featuring analysts from IDC. All events are recorded and uploaded to the site’s YouTube channel (3,156 followers) and converted to mp3 and uploaded to its podcast channels (iTunes, Stitcher, Google Play and Soundcloud).
CIO also supports the social media efforts of other IDG-owned publications, including CIO Asia, CIO UK, IDGTECHTalk, CSO Online, Network World, Computerworld and InfoWorld, sharing those sites’ content via original social posts, retweets/shares, comments, and participation in their live social events.
All content published by CIO is shared on its Twitter page (188,000 followers), Facebook page (58,000 followers), and LinkedIn page (28,000 followers), which generated 542,642 visits to the site from Jan. 1 to Nov. 30, 2018. During that timeframe, the content generated the following:

8.1 million impressions
54,719 clicks, retweets and likes
Facebook:
936,736 impressions
4,077 clicks, shares, likes and comments
LinkedIn:
1.8 million impressions
41,873 clicks, shares, likes and comments
