Architectural Lighting has always played a unique role in the lighting community as the profession’s independent voice. Over the course of the publication’s 30 years it has been at the leading edge of the lighting conversation. Never has that been more true than today as we create more content across multiple platforms. From print to digital to social media, AL engages with a world-wide audience of lighting designers, architects, and lighting manufacturers working in lighting and shaping the built environment, as well as students and emerging professionals. No matter the delivery portal, AL maintains a strict commitment to editorial integrity and quality editorial content. Our priority as a media brand is to inform, educate, and inspire as we serve as the eyes, ears, and voice of the lighting industry.

The July/Aug issue is the annual recap of winners from the AL Light & Architecture Design Awards program that features the best of the best in lighting design work. The AL Design Awards are an industry “must submit to” program and the projects showcase design excellence. The AL Design Awards serve as an industry benchmark for all lighting design professionals.
The Sept/Oct issue focuses on lighting for retail and hospitality projects and illustrates the diversity of illumination solutions for these applications.
The Nov/Dec special 30th Anniversary issue presented an opportunity to think about lighting in a new way—in terms of the key moments that have contributed to shaping the contemporary practice of lighting design as we now know it. The issue looks at all facets of the profession: design, manufacturing and business, technology and product developments, education, and research. It is not a list of a specific number of influential people, projects, or products. Instead, it is a different way of looking at lighting by connecting ideas and trends that have weaved themselves across the years and through each generation of lighting practitioners and manufacturers.
From industry news, reports, interviews, technology discussions, products, and exemplary design projects, Architectural Lighting presents the dynamic diversity that is lighting design today.
