Entry Essay:
As the official publication of NAED, tED magazine is the voice for the top electrical distributors in North America. Designed to appeal to all electrical distribution personnel, tED is read by employees of companies ranging from national chains to independents of all sizes. tED’s readers are top performers and decision-makers in the industry, and we are proud to have a reputation for reporting on tough issues.
In 2025 we continued to produce two issues a month. Our "A" issue releases on the 1st of the month and is a traditional tED magazine, with a cover story and Current, Business, Selling, and Product sections. Our "B" issue releases on the 15th of each month and deep dives into a specific topic.
The enterprising work that goes into each of the three issues submitted this year is representative of what tED strives to be year-round: informational, educational, and on top of industry trends. Each feature and column included the issues we produced in 2025 was thoughtfully planned and executed to meet our goal of (1) supporting the initiatives of NAED and (2) providing readers with the tools they need to succeed today and into the future. Everything published in tED is original content, developed by the editor and publisher and executed by professional freelance writers. None of our editorial is "contributed content" nor is influenced by our advertisers.
Examples of outstanding work in the three issues submitted include:
Our January 2025-B issue examined what is probably the most important aspect of the electrical distribution channel: strong relationships. And while we've written about the importance of strengthening relationships across the industry, this issue considers the explosion of new technologies—especially AI—and how it is changing the way those relationships look. Each of the four feature stories in this issue cover a different relationship-building topic: communicating industry trends and new developments, navigating rising costs and improving profitability, conversations distributors are having with their contractor customers, and navigating co-op marketing with manufacturers.
Our February 2025-A issue cover story looks at the biggest issue in electrical distribution right now: getting products on time. While the supply chain continues to be disrupted and wait times on products can be months—even years—the questions on everyone's mind is: Where's my stuff? In this story our writer speaks with NAED representatives about a multi-million-dollar program being put in place to increase industry-wide visibility into where orders are and pinpoint when they will arrive." The issue also contains our regular Current, Business, Selling, and Product sections.
Our February 2025-B issue takes a deep dive into what is probably the hottest the topic of the day: AI. Looking into just how this technology can be used across the electrical channel, the stories in the issue cover: how it is being used by industry partners to boost productivity, attract talent, and increase the speed of digital transformation; the fallout from bad data; how AI can be used to increase profitability; and what is needed to maximize data sharing between partners.
