Entry Essay:
As the official publication of the National Association of Electrical Distributors (NAED), tED magazine is the voice for the top electrical distributors in North America. Designed to appeal to all electrical distribution personnel—from drivers and warehouse workers to presidents and CEOs—tED is read by employees of companies ranging from national chains to independents of all sizes. tED’s readers are top performers and decision-makers in the industry and the magazine strives to get important messages and product information in front of them each month. We are also proud that tED magazine has a reputation for addressing the tough issues within the channel that are reported on without advertiser influence.
In 2024 we continued to produce two issues a month, a strategy developed in early 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic sent nearly everyone home. Although many of our readers have returned to their offices, at least part-time, the 24-issues-a-year approach continues to work for us as it (1) increases traffic to our website and (2) allows us to do topic-focused mid-month issues. (Our "A Issue" releases on the 1st of the month and is a traditional tED magazine, with a cover story and Current, Business, Selling, and Product sections. Our "B Issue" releases on the 15th of each month and deep dives into a specific topic via 4-5 feature stories.)
The enterprising work that goes into each of the three issues submitted this year is representative of what tED strives to be year-round: informational, educational, and on top of industry trends. Each feature and column included tED is thoughtfully planned and executed to meet our goal of (1) supporting the initiatives of our parent company (NAED) and (2) providing readers with the tools they need to succeed. Everything published in tED is original content; none of our editorial is "contributed content" nor is it influenced by our advertisers.
Examples of outstanding work in the three issues submitted include:
July 2024-B Issue: This DEI-focused issue first looks "DEI fatigue" and navigating backlash, mental health and DEI, getting a return on investment, keeping employees engaged, and an industry-wide initiative. Each article features interviews with professionals from inside and outside the industry and dives deeply into both the challenges and rewards DEI initiatives can provide.
August 2025-A Issue: Our August 2025-A cover story looks at the biggest issue in electrical distribution right now: getting products on time. The supply chain continues to be disrupted and wait times on products can be months—even years. Not getting products in a timely manner has a ripple effect: distributors' customers need the products to do their jobs...and when jobs don't get done on time money is lost. It also contains Current, Business, Selling, and Product sections.
August 2025-B Issue: Five features dive into what "The Future of Work" might look like. From AI to meetings to training to recruiting, our writers spoke with multiple distribution companies and industry tech experts to provide a view of what the industry can expect in the coming decade.
