Babcox Media's aftermarketNews prides itself on providing news and analysis of industry trends to automotive aftermarket parts manufacturers, suppliers and distributors. It is the publication of record for the automotive aftermarket and is ramping up its use of video to feature industry experts.

In our "Year in Review" series, I have submitted our "2023 Newsmakers" video as part of this four-part series. We start work on this series in October, scanning our analytics to create a list of the Top 10 stories in manufacturing, distribution, personnel and finally, our Newsmakers. This year's "Newsmaker" video looks like a regular green screen interview, but the series is more than that. We gather the analytics from each executive interview we do across our site (both from our podcast AMN Drivetime and written executive interviews) and take the top 10 most viewed to become our Newsmakers. We highlight each person in our 'Newsmakers" video, but more importantly, we recognize them with a beautiful champagne bottle engraved with their name and headshot, recognizing them as a newsmaker. This not only allows them to celebrate the newsmaking year they had, but it also endears them to our brand as the No. 1 news source in the automotive aftermarket.

I modeled our "2023 Newsmakers" video after the popular MsMojo YouTube series, which counts down the top 10 of any popular movie or TV series. Stay tuned for a fun holiday moment at the end!

From compiling this "Year in Review" series, we look at the analytics to plan our 2024 coverage and follow-up stories. It serves as a great recap of the year and allows both our editorial team and our readers to pull out key trends and companies on the move in our industry.
