Automotive News, which in 2021 increasingly focused documenting franchised auto dealership buy-sell transactions, continues to feverishly report, investigate and collect these transactions, providing our audience of dealers, vendors, automakers and consultants the most comprehensive industry coverage. Details on 403 deals involving 596 dealerships trading hands were tracked by reporters and editors in 2022. The Automotive News Research & Data Center crunched the findings and our analysis was the focus of a package of stories and graphics about the 2022 market and a look into 2023 industry trends. In conjunction with this package, Automotive News also launched a searchable and downloadable database of 2,000 dealership buy-sell transactions, available to our data center subscribers. Data also was highlighted in a LinkedIn Live conversation about the buy-sell market featuring Automotive News staff and a dealership lawyer specializing in mergers and acquisitions, which garnered at least 1,500 views and at peak had more than 210 viewers. Part of that talk also was featured in an Automotive News Daily Drive podcast episode.
