Description of the enterprising work that went into this entry and its significance or impact on readers:
tED magazine is the voice for the top distributors in North America. From national chains to successful independents, tED is read by the top distribution companies in the industry and is known for addressing the tough issues within the channel.
The COVID-19 pandemic supercharged digital transformation trends in the electrical distribution industry. As our parent company, NAED, strives to provide our membership with the tech tools they need to excel, tED offers articles (and entire issues) dedicated to how new technologies and innovations from both outside and inside the industry are helping readers grow their businesses.
The articles chosen for this award represent three areas in which technological innovations are impacting the electrical industry:
1. Outside Sales Transforms. In a business that depends on product sales and penetration into new markets, outside salespeople are the lifeblood of electrical distribution. In this feature Carolyn Heinze investigates some of the main trends that are shaping what the future of outside sales will look like through interviews with industry salespeople and experts. A sidebar offers information about the teaching possibilities presented by AI.
2. By The Numbers. Experts agree that the sharing of data in the electrical distribution channel is key to future growth. Realizing that goal, however, has been difficult, as no one wants to share too much data, the wrong data, or inaccurate date. Here, Bridget McCrea speaks with channel experts about how the industry must work together to sync up data, information, and insights on a regular basis.
3. Reshape Relationships. Electrical distribution has always relied on personal relationships...so where does technology fit in? In this article Carol Katarsky investigates how technology is offering a new way to connect with customers and provide better service. While nothing can replace the value of face-to-face connections, technology provides the data that enhances those relationships.
