Although “internet famous,” especially among medical professionals, for his comedic online persona of Dr Glaucomflecken, Will Flanary wasn’t well known by his actual name. This profile was among the first to tackle his actual life story. Our Director of Social Media and Community, Liz Neporent, was relentless in tracking down his contact information and in persuading him to share his journey with his peers in medicine. In talking not only with Dr Flanary but with his wife, Kristin, the meaningful purpose and intent behind the costumes and “clowning” online became clear. More than just a reminder that “doctors are people too,” the profile showed how this unique voice brings more than just laughter to his ever-growing legion of fans.
