- Blurb: In August 2020, the ABA released its second annual “Profile of the Legal Profession,” consisting of data tracking various statistical markers relating to lawyers and the legal profession, including number of lawyers nationwide, geographic location, wages, demographics and employment. For the first time, the ABA also released data relating to law school debt and its impact on lawyers. Building off that work, the ABA Journal took a deeper dive, augmenting and supplementing the data provided in the ABA’s report with original reporting and additional statistics. Framed by six mini-profiles of young lawyers, “Dreams Deferred” examines the effect of law school student debt in delaying or even altering life decisions and goals.
