Civil Engineering magazine—published by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE)—presents information about significant projects, events, and trends of interest to the magazine’s civil engineer readers. Using the cover image as the opener, this feature combines photographs and illustrations of several super-tall yet super-thin skyscrapers that seem to defy the laws of physics. The illustrations of their innovative structural support systems show the reader how those feats of near-magic were accomplished.
