Please describe the enterprising work that went into this entry and its significance or impact on readers:
From construction to leasing, rapid technological change is shaking up commercial real estate. During 2019, Development magazine dedicated a lot of column inches to this important topic to help real estate professionals navigate a rapidly evolving field.
Managing editor Trey Barrineau wrote a heavily researched cover story for the Summer issue on the deluge of "big data" engulfing companies in the industry and how they're coping with it.
Barrineau also produced three other diverse, deeply reported stories about the industry's adoption of technological change. He toured an innovative facility for building products and sciences in Falls Church, Virginia, as well as a 1990s office building in Washington, D.C., that used cutting-edge sensor-based technology to transform into a modern, amenity-filled workplace. He also wrote a fact-filled article about why the construction industry has been a straggler when it comes to embracing technology.
Finally, the magazine's Winter cover story provided a deep, fact-filled dive by contributor Aaron Ahlburn into the many ways that technological change is affecting supply chains and transportation networks -- and consequently, the development of logistics facilities.
Taken together, these five pieces provide actionable information to help real estate professionals across all asset classes do their jobs better, both today and in the future.
