The global population is predicted to be nine billion by 2050, and it is critical to find better, more sustainable ways to grow and produce food. Drones, robots, and artificial intelligence are some of the technology being used to stem the future food shortage. Three of our reporters wrote long-form stories about the intersection of food and technology. Reporters and members of our video and photo team traveled to various locations for these stories, including John Deere's test farm in Iowa and Purdue University's agronomy center in Indiana, to get a first-hand look at the technology and research in this area. A writer also reported on two innovative precision agriculture projects in the United Kingdom. The long-form stories were published in article and PDF formats. Our extensive coverage of this topic also included two short video documentaries, three additional video features, five related articles, a photo gallery, a special feature page on our sister site ZDNet, and promos in newsletters and on social media.
