Golfdom‘s primary readership is superintendents — the men and women who manage and maintain golf courses. Golf course owners, architects, general managers and pros also read the magazine.
The original Golfdom magazine was founded in 1927 as the industry’s first business journal. It has since evolved into a publication that strives to educate and entertain its readers through content that underscores utility and provides practical information to help them in their careers.
Please describe the enterprising work that went into this entry and its significance or impact on readers:
The Golfdom team traveled to St. Louis to provide live coverage from the 2018 PGA Championship. Our readers, made up mostly of the men and women who maintain golf courses, love to see how other courses are managed and learn about the men and women who work hard to make sure their course looks pristine. There's no bigger stage than a major golf tournament.
During the tournament, we interviewed numerous behind-the-scenes faces, including the golf course superintendent and several volunteers from across the globe. We used our Facebook page and Twitter account to share the stories, videos and updates in real time, as well as get the conversation started with our readers on daily topics.
Our social media coverage resulted in a total of 1,186,615 impressions and 11,954 engagements. Twitter made up for 77 percent of the campaign’s total impressions, and Facebook had a CTR of 7.88 percent.
