The actors behind SamSam — a ransomware family linked to several attacks against medical providers — launched an attack against healthcare software company Allscripts in January 2018, leaving the company’s customers without access to the services needed to run their medical practices. After the initial news broke, CSO started talking to Allscripts customers and security experts to get a full picture of the impact of the attack, who was behind it, and how the company could have better handled incident response. Those conversations culminated in this 4-part series, which was rolled out over the course of a week in April, 2018.
