StateScoop is an online publication that delivers breaking news and original analysis for and about state and local government information technology decision-makers. Our editorial team focuses primarily on how government agencies are acquiring, developing and using technology to improve their internal operations and the services they deliver to the public. We also report on technology developments that are likely to have an impact on the nearly $100 billion state and local government agencies spend annually on IT.

Please describe the enterprising work that went into this entry and its significance or impact on readers:

Since its launch in 2013, StateScoop has seen double-digit percentage increases in readership and web traffic year over year. Between 2016 and 2017, the publication grew by more than 100 percent in traffic and readership. This growth stems directly from the service StateScoop provides to the community it represents — state and local government decision-makers. These leaders make choices involving taxpayer dollars that could drastically improve the lives of the citizens and government employees they serve.

StateScoop has become a valued resource to the state and local government information technology community. One state government CIO called StateScoop his “essential daily reading” while another referenced her desire to look to the site as a “platform to learn what other government agencies are doing and adapt their tactics to my city.”

Through news, video, audio, events and more, StateScoop has created a multi-platform approach for state and local government experts and private sector thought leaders to come together, collaborate, learn and innovate every day.
