In September, CSO editors received a phishing email warning of nearly-full email storage. It raised enough red flags that CSO senior writer Steve Ragan deconstructed the phishing email to understand what would happen if someone fell for the scam. After publishing that original article, Ragan learned that he’d likely stumbled upon a phishing campaign that had been targeting Office 365 customers throughout the summer. In this follow-up article, Ragan explains the role such an email might play in a sustained chain attack and why Office 365 is such a hot target. “Considering most organizations leverage Office 365 credentials for Exchange, One Drive, Skype, and SharePoint, and Office Store apps, the damage potential is serious,” Ragan explains.
