Please describe the enterprising work that went into this entry and its significance or impact on readers:
Drug shortages, global competition, stricter compliance mandates and pricing pressures in a post-blockbuster era are forcing the pharmaceutical industry to reevaluate antiquated operations. While the movement toward the Industrial Internet of Things has already started taking place in the pharmaceutical industry, it will not happen overnight. Even with the large investments in IIoT being made by so many industry giants, there are significant hurdles that need to be overcome for the benefits to be captured in the highly regulated, traditionally risk-averse pharmaceutical industry.
This article discusses the results of a robust “Smart Pharma” industry survey that compared responses from pharma manufacturers against the responses of vendors who sell to those manufacturers to get a comprehensive industry industry. The survey is a one-of-a-kind attempt to define "digital" in the pharmaceutical industry -- where the industry stands and the challenges it still faces.
