Publication name: ABA Banking Journal

Please describe the publication's mission and readership:
The ABA Banking Journal is the 108-year-old flagship magazine of the American Bankers Association. The print magazine is joined by a free news website with more than 70,000 monthly pageviews, updated daily with banking industry and regulatory news and web exclusives.
Our mission is to educate bankers about the latest industry trends, keep them abreast of changes on the horizon, inspire them with thought leadership and communicate relevant ABA news to them. We reach approximately 25,000 readers in the banking community with our print edition, principally bank CEOs, presidents, board members and senior officers (vice president and above) at banks of all sizes and charter types.
Our content represents the diversity of the banking industry itself. In any given issue, we cover payments, cybersecurity, mortgages, retail banking, agricultural lending, insurance, business loans, consumer loans, the U.S. economy, wealth management, human resources, risk management, regulatory compliance and public policy.
We also have a strong focus on leadership and on helping bankers grow as leaders in their institutions (see the submitted July/August issue) and their communities (see the Innovations in Social Responsibility column that closes every issue).
Please describe the enterprising work that went into this entry and its significance or impact on readers:
When the ABA Banking Journal was relaunched in 2015, it created a new website that also collected the content of the American Bankers Association's daily email bulletin (reaching 70,000+ readers). Anywhere from three to fifteen new stories daily are posted to the site throughout the day, providing brief and accessible news on important topics.
Until 2015, this news was posted behind a members-only paywall. Today, this site attracts more than 70,000 monthly visitors (up 48 percent from a year before) for a unique mix of policy and business news and insights.
We also provide weekly infographics, which we call Weekly Infobytes, and all information is searchable by content, by business function within the bank and by topic. News stories are promoted through social media accounts of staff and all stories have social sharing buttons for readers to use.
The top five stories of 2016 -- each scoring over 2,500 pageviews -- include a post-election analysis, news about the Labor Department's final overtime rule, an overview of top risks for banks in 2016, news about regulatory stress test scenarios and a report on new loan loss accounting standards.
