American City & County Infographics
Issue date (if applicable):
Publication name: American City & County
Publishing company: Penton
Website home page: www.americancityandcounty.com
Please describe the publication's mission and readership:
American City and County covers the issues surrounding city and county governments and features the leaders who distinguish themselves from their peers. It is designed to serve as a clearinghouse of information about issues of interest to local and state government leaders, both elected and appointed. Its focus is broad enough to encompass the concerns of the administrative officials who are charged with making policy and operational professionals who must implement that policy. Coverage areas include public safety, streets and highways, public transportation, solid waste collection and disposal, water supply, wastewater collection and treatment, urban revitalization, public finance, parks and recreation, government technology and buildings and grounds maintenance.
Please describe the enterprising work that went into this entry and its significance or impact on readers:
These infographics organize authoritative data and information about important issues in local, state and federal governments. One explains the strategies, concerns and challenges local governments face in implementing sustainability measures. Another details the same issues for local and state governments in IT administration, while including input from government workers through video. A third infographic explains drivers’ perceptions of tolls, while a fourth details the poor state of America’s roads and highways.
American City and County's infographics seek to tell a detailed story visually, breaking down complex information into easily digestible information. AC&C's infographics are sourced from a wealth of trustworthy and diverse information with plenty of numerical data. While the research, numbers, color scheme, fonts and icons used in designing each infographic are important, careful consideration is given to the arrangement of those elements to facilitate the smoothest flow of information possible.
The creator’s ultimate goal for each infographic is for readers to absorb the information presented seamlessly and enjoyably, while gaining insights and information that can be used in their professional lives.
