Entry Essay: 
Are there any hotter issues in any level of education at the moment than the role of artificial intelligence?

The November 2024 issue of School Administrator magazine took a rather deep dive into the use of generative AI tools in K-12 education. This is our entry in the magazine – single topic category.

This issue drew consideration attention, not unsurprisingly, owing to the uncertain feeling many school leaders harbor at the moment. Many school leaders readily admit they don’t have adequate understanding of artificial education tools. Our readers are mostly school superintendents, putting them at the top of the school district’s decision-making ladder. In this issue, we delivered informative coverage on various facets of AI, dealing notably with responsible use, school district policy, equity questions, staff training and more.

Timely fare in other sections of this issue addressed the normalization of extreme student behavior in schools, legal questions over the remote participation of school board members in official meetings and an ethical dilemma over sexist comments made in a private conversation between two school administrators.
