Please describe the enterprising work that went into this entry and its significance or impact on readers:
Meetings & Conventions' September 2015 cover story, "Cornering the Market" tells the story of the meteoric rise of Cvent, a pioneering meetings software company that has been nothing short of a game changer in the industry. Founded as an event registration service by two enterprising college friends in 1999, the now-pubic company was on target for generating a staggering $8 billion in group hotel business in 2015 alone. While celebrating its successes, the article also asks: Has Cvent grown too big for the good of the industry it serves? Critics cite the company’s notoriety for aggressively stifling the competition in its niche. Also, Cvent’s service has made it very easy for planners to send electronic RFPs to hotels, creating a new and growing problem for properties that are now flooded with such requests. M&C's probing feature sheds light on all of the above and more, with insightful input from Cvent founders Chuck Ghoorah and Reggie Aggarwal and a host of other prominent industry insiders. An accompanying sidebar offers a roster of other meetings-tech firms trying to gain a foothold in the shadow of the biggest player in the business.
