Entry details
2015 Women of the Channel
Issue date (if applicable): 6/1/2015
Publication name: CRN
Publishing company: The Channel Company
Website home page: http://www.crn.com/
Please describe the publication's mission and readership:
CRN.com serves as the voice of the channel, covering the enterprise technology news that matters most to the solution provider community. Simply reporting tech news from a high-level brings little value to solution providers. CRN.com readers need to know how mergers and acquisitions, executive shuffles, product launches, and other happenings with their vendor partners will directly impact their reseller businesses.
As an advocate for the channel, CRN.com quotes solution providers directly impacted by the news in every article published. The CRN.com staff includes a dozen reporters, either dedicated to a specific segment of IT or to a major technology vendor with a large channel presence, such as Hewlett-Packard, Microsoft, Dell, and Cisco. The staff also features a video news editor and an editor dedicated to the CRN Test Center, CRN's technology review wing.
CRN.com prides itself on delivering news first and in 2015 published 100 pieces of content that were exclusive to the site.
Please describe the enterprising work that went into this entry and its significance or impact on readers:
CRN's annual Women of the Channel project honors female executives whose expertise and vision in the channel make them deserving of recognition. In 2015, CRN honored 440 female executives. To showcase the 2015 honorees, CRN.com hosted a searchable database by name, company, title, special recognitions, and fun facts.
Of the 440 honorees in 2015, 100 were chosen to represent the Power 100. For the second straight year, the project also highlighted an elite subset of female executives at solution provider organizations whose insight and influence in their respective companies helped drive channel success. New to the project this year, CRN also gave special recognition to 25 rising-star female executives.
Overall, the 2015 project included a 450+ page database, a dozen articles, 8 slideshows, 6 videos, a special section in the June 2015 issue of the CRN magazine, and a dedicated Twitter handle. The content is also available on CRN's mobile site for smartphones and the CRN Tech News App for Tablet.
