Please describe the publication's mission and readership:
SecurityInfoWatch.com was created over a decade ago with the purpose of providing readers across the security market with comprehensive news and analysis of issues impacting the industry. Our readers span the entire spectrum of the security industry, from small, independent alarm dealers to global systems integration firms, as well as physical and IT security executives at some of the world's largest organizations. Because our readership is so diverse, we cover a wide variety of topics on our site — ranging from local ordinances that could have a significant impact on security system installers, to business news such as mergers & acquisitions, to breaking news, such as mass shootings and other incidents of terrorism, to technology analysis. All of these topics are of major interest to the security channel audience and/or chief security officers and greatly affect their approaches to business management, risk mitigation and other key aspects of their jobs. SecurityInfoWatch.com additionally features a comprehensive product buyer’s guide and the most popular forums in our industry.
Please describe the enterprising work that went into this entry and its significance or impact on readers:
Violence against healthcare workers is one of the most significant but seldom discussed issues facing hospitals and other healthcare facilities today. There have been numerous, documented incidents of assaults against nurses and other healthcare professionals in recent years, but few articles have actually delved into why shootings, rapes and other violent acts are occurring at these facilities at such an alarming rate. I interviewed one of the most highly regarded hospital security directors in the nation, as well as one of the most well-respected healthcare facility security consultants, to get their perspective on what measures hospitals should be undertaking to mitigate these incidents and to also see where they are falling short. This article is targeted at hospital executives and security managers, as well as the service and technology providers who call upon hospitals as customers, and is intended to not only show them where hospitals need to improve, but also how strategies can differ when it comes to shoring up hospital security.
