Computerworld is outspoken and authoritative, and relies on the hard-won insights of the IT users it champions to offer readers behind-the-scenes examples of how organizations implement technology, manage projects and personnel, and adapt to IT change.

Our website, updated continually during the business week and when major news breaks after-hours and on weekends, also includes stories from the IDG News Service and several of our sister technology publications. Please describe the enterprising work that went into this entry and its significance or impact on readers:
Computerworld’s The 100 Best Places to Work in IT is a microsite of Computerworld.com that showcases the results of our annual, proprietary research identifying the U.S. employers that offer IT workers the best combination of benefits, training, challenging work and more. Computerworld determines the list of 100 top organizations after a rigorous data-gathering process: Nominated companies completed a 51-question survey asking about average salary and bonus increases and percentage of IT staffers promoted, among other questions, and their employees anonymously filled out a survey detailing their satisfaction with compensation, benefits, training and more.
The microsite we build around the results of that data serves as a one-stop, year-round resource for IT job seekers and hiring managers alike. The three No. 1 Best Places (large, midsize and small) are each given profiles at the top of the page. Beneath that, the top 5 companies in each size category give visitors a flavor of the range of companies profiled. Visitors can search and filter the list of honorees right from the home page, narrowing results by location, company size or other criteria. An interactive map displays all 100 Best Places and allows users to zoom down to specific states or cities.
Our readers eagerly anticipate this report every year, and many IT employers look to it for methods they can use to attract and retain the best IT talent.
