Please describe the publication's mission and readership:
CIO.com's mission is to be the leading provider of technology news, analysis, opinion, how-to, discussion, and research for senior IT managers and related industry professionals. Our readership consists of C-Level IT Executives, Director-Level IT Managers, and a broad and expanding range of IT, technical and business leaders who may need to communicate or interface with senior IT leaders. The content focus of the site includes leadership and management, social media technologies and services, vendor management, mobile devices and smart phones such as Android, iPhone, tablets and apps, as well as coverage of important trends such as data analytics, Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, virtual and augmented reality, cloud computing, security and IT strategy.
Please describe the enterprising work that went into this entry and its significance or impact on readers:
In 2016, more than 72,000 readers registered to access CIO.com’s Insider premium content, an increase of 187 percent over the year prior. Forty percent of registrants report having titles of IT manager or higher (10 percent of them self-identify as CIOs). More than 62 percent of the membership is based in the U.S. and more than 50 percent are from companies with more than 500 employees.
These numbers show that we are reaching our target audience of IT leaders, managers, and an expanding range business managers whose roles are increasingly technical with the mix of content that matters to them. In fact, in 2016, the CIO at Red Bull, the CTO at Port Authority of N.Y. & N.J., and CIOs at University of California, Merced, the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago and Fordham University all became Insider members, having downloaded CIO-level reports from content partners, such as the CIO Executive Council and the Society for Information Management.
Cornerstones of the CIO.com Insider program are our digital magazines (e.g.,) and resume makeover series (ex:), but we also find that technical how-to articles and analysis pieces resonate with our audience — all of which you’ll find in the Insider section of CIO.com and throughout the site, indicated by a green Insider flag.
