Please describe the enterprising work that went into this entry and its significance or impact on readers:
Advancements in smartphone technology allow users to open garage doors remotely, check game stats in real-time and pay bills. However, a number of apps solely exist for entertainment. In her August 2016 column “Pokémon NO! Protecting Your Workers from Digital Zombies,” Staff Writer Stefanie Valentic describes the negative consequences of cell phone usage. As the number of distracted driving incidents and workplace accidents related to smartphones grows, what policies and precautions should employers take to prevent them? Many safety managers responded with their frustrations and suggestions, making it her most-read column to date.
What drives someone to make a conscious decision about his or her health? As Staff Writer Stefanie Valentic explains in her September 2016 column, “The Path to Wellness is a Marathon, Not a Sprint,” promoting wellness in the workplace is no easy task. Despite being young, at normal weight and seemingly fit on the outside, she knew she had to make a lifestyle change to get on track to a healthy future. She draws on her running experience to demonstrate why employers should encourage workers to take the first steps to wellness to boost morale and productivity in the workplace.
